What does a pap smear test for?

Cervical smear is a test that examines the cervix for shed cells to determine if the cervix is diseased, and is primarily a screening test for cervical cancer cells.
Cervical smear is a simple and inexpensive test that was previously used to screen for cervical cancer cells. A small amount of mucus and cells are taken from the cervix and spread evenly on a slide, and the cells are viewed through a microscope for abnormalities.
Cervical smears are categorized into 5 grades, with grade 1 indicating normal, grade 2 inflammation, and grades 3 to 5 suspicion of cervical cancer, which requires further tests to confirm the diagnosis. The cervical smear test should be avoided during menstruation, and women with irregular vaginal bleeding or vaginitis should not undergo the test, otherwise the test results will be affected.
If the test is abnormal, it is recommended to improve the relevant examination to clarify the cause and standardize the treatment.
