Barrett’s esophagus may become cancerous.
1. The cause of cancerous Barrett’s esophagus: the disease itself is related to reflux esophagitis, in which acid reflux for a long time leads to the squamous epithelium of the esophagus to be covered by columnar epithelium, and therefore, the chance of cancerous transformation is 30~50 times higher than that of normal people.
2. When Barrett’s esophagus is diagnosed, in order to prevent cancer, changes can be made according to the following from 5 points:
(1) Reduce the consumption of high-fat food and abstain from coffee, tobacco, alcohol and chocolate.
(2) Improve eating habits by eating smaller meals and not eating 2 hours before bedtime.
(3) Regular review, usually once every six months, to clarify the lesions through endoscopy for timely treatment.
(4) Eat a light diet and avoid stimulating food.
(5) Avoid long-term emotional stress, etc.
Barrett’s esophagus may become cancerous, so it is necessary to go to the hospital regularly for endoscopic review under the guidance of the doctor to avoid aggravation of the condition.
