Ribavirin granules are mainly composed of ribavirin, which is a synthetic nucleoside antiviral drug. Ribavirin has a selective inhibitory effect on viruses such as respiratory syncytial virus and adenovirus, and can kill viruses by inhibiting their DNA and RNA replication. It is mainly used for the treatment of respiratory syncytial virus infection, adenovirus infection, influenza or parainfluenza virus infection caused by viral pneumonia, bronchitis and other respiratory tract infectious diseases. It can also be used to treat herpes zoster, herpes simplex and other herpes virus infections of the skin. Ribavirin granules are generally absorbed relatively quickly after oral administration, with blood concentrations reaching a peak within one hour, and ribavirin generally works within about one hour after entering the body. It is important to note that the drug is teratogenic and is prohibited for pregnant and lactating women. In addition, it may cause red blood cell damage, so patients with thalassemia or cellular anemia should not take ribavirin either.
