Does Moxifloxacin harm the liver?

Moxifloxacin may have liver damage to the liver, but it depends on the individual.
Moxifloxacin is a quinolone antibiotic that is commonly used for respiratory tract infections and soft tissue skin infections. Adverse effects of moxifloxacin include liver injury, commonly elevated gamma-glutamine transferase, and there have been case reports of fulminant hepatitis with possible resultant liver failure.
Due to the lack of clinical data on the use of moxifloxacin in patients suffering from severe hepatic impairment (Child Pugh Class C) and in patients with transaminase elevations greater than five times the upper limit of normal, the drug is contraindicated in such patients. The drug is contraindicated in women younger than 18 years of age, during pregnancy and lactation, and in those who are allergic to the drug.
Moxifloxacin should be used under the supervision of a doctor and should not be used on its own.
