How long do you usually live with osteoma?

The survival time of patients with bone tumors is mainly determined by the nature of the tumor, its volume and size, as well as the treatment method, and needs to be analyzed on a case-by-case basis. In case of benign bone tumor, the tumor will develop slowly and stop growing at a certain age, and the patient usually has no conscious symptoms and no distant metastasis. In the case of malignant osteoma, the tumor increases rapidly and even forms a huge mass, so that local skin bruises are revealed. In addition to local deformity, severe pain and functional disorders, there are gradually increasing systemic symptoms, such as fever that does not subside, reduced diet, loss of body weight and dull complexion, etc., and metastasis is likely to occur. If these patients can actively cooperate with treatment, their survival time may reach five years or more. In addition, patients can perform passive and active exercises for their limbs during their illness to prevent muscle atrophy. Patients’ family members should communicate with them frequently so that they can face the reality, get rid of fear, be emotionally stable and build up confidence to overcome the disease.
