When necessary, the meniscus can be removed in its entirety. Meniscus injuries are classified as Grade I, Grade II and Grade III injuries, with Grade III injuries also including meniscus tears. In the vast majority of cases, meniscus injuries of degree I and degree II do not require surgical treatment and naturally do not require complete removal. In most cases, meniscus tears and meniscus injuries require arthroscopic treatment, and even if arthroscopic treatment is performed, it is not necessary to remove the entire meniscus, but only to repair, trim or remove a small portion of the meniscus. Meniscal damage is particularly severe, with almost no good meniscus present, and complete meniscal destruction is required before total meniscectomy is required, so the meniscus can be removed in its entirety.
