Swelling of the eyelids after blepharoplasty can be reduced as quickly as possible by applying cold compresses followed by hot compresses. For the first 3 days after blepharoplasty, ice wrapped in a towel should be used to apply cold compresses around the wound to shrink the capillaries, reduce bleeding, oozing, and inflammatory mediators, and to prevent excessive swelling of the wound. After 3 days of cold compresses, the wound is no longer bleeding and oozing, and then hot compresses should be applied. Hot compresses can promote blood circulation, and promote the edema to subside. The duration of hot compresses can be adjusted according to the recovery of the eyelids. It is recommended to stop applying hot compresses after the swelling of the eyelids subsides. After blepharoplasty, in addition to cold compresses and hot compresses, you should also follow the doctor’s instructions to change the medicine, disinfect the wound, avoid the wound getting wet, keep the wound clean, and consult the doctor in time if you feel unwell.
