Engeletin and glimepiride are usually more effective when applied in reasonable doses under doctor’s supervision. 1. Engeletin: This product mainly acts on sodium-glucose transporters in the proximal tubules of the kidneys.2 By inhibiting these transporters, it prevents the reabsorption of filtered glucose in the kidneys, which is finally excreted in the urine, thus lowering the blood glucose. It is indicated for adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus in conjunction with diet and exercise. The most common adverse reactions to this product are urinary tract infections, fungal infections of the female reproductive system, and it is contraindicated in patients who are allergic to the components of this product, or with severe renal insufficiency. 2. Glimepiride: This product is a sulfonylurea hypoglycemic drug, which mainly works by stimulating the release of insulin from pancreatic β-cells. It is mainly used for patients with type 2 diabetes who cannot control their blood sugar well through diet and exercise or weight reduction. A small number of patients with nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and other gastrointestinal reactions, is prohibited in patients with allergy to the components of the product; type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis; severe renal and hepatic disease should be prohibited.
