PICC is a catheter inserted through a peripheral vein to a central vein, which is punctured from the peripheral vein and delivered to the superior vena cava close to the heart, with the precious vein preferred for PICC placement, followed by the median elbow vein and finally the cephalic vein. PICC can be used to infuse drugs in the central vein with high blood flow and fast flow rate, avoiding the damage to the blood vessels caused by long-term infusion or infusion of hypertonic and irritating drugs, and reducing the pain caused by repeated punctures, which is often used in chemotherapy patients. PICC can be left in use for 6 months to 1 year, which can not only reduce the pain caused by repeated venipuncture, but more importantly, can avoid the damage of chemotherapy drugs to peripheral veins and stimulation of local weaving, ensure the smooth completion of chemotherapy process, significantly reduce the occurrence of complications, and effectively improve the quality of life of patients.
