Pain in the ear canal is mainly seen in the following diseases: 1. Acute otitis externa. Patients with this condition usually have persistent pain in the ear canal, which is more pronounced when pulling on the auricle. Patients may have hearing loss and clinical examination may reveal congestion, redness and swelling of the ear canal, obscured tympanic membrane, and possible inflammatory exudation in the ear canal. Once the diagnosis is clear, symptomatic treatment with levofloxacin ear drops and antibiotics can be applied under the guidance of the clinician. 2. Boils on the external auditory canal, also known as limited otitis externa, are very painful. During clinical examination, a limited protrusion of the external auditory canal can be seen, and there may be localized boils, which can break down. For this disease, anti-inflammatory infusion therapy is usually required. If the swelling of the boil is obvious, a local incision can be made to drain the pus.3. Other diseases, such as earwax infection of the ear canal, can also cause pain in the external ear canal, and in some patients, fracture of the temporal bone of the ear canal and bone trauma can also cause pain in the ear canal.
