How to treat high eye pressure

Hyperophthalmia is a benign condition in which the IOP measurement is chronically higher than normal, but no optic nerve damage, no impairment of visual function, occurs. In particular, it is important to note that although a patient’s IOP is higher than normal, it is not equivalent to glaucoma, i.e., hyperopthalmia is not the same concept as glaucoma. The main manifestation of hypertension is an IOP that has been measured above 21 mmHg several times, which is the normal worthy high limit. However, after years of observation, it rarely causes the appearance of fundus lesions. Because the organism is basically free of lesions, hypertension is not currently treated, but is mainly observed for follow-up. Nonetheless, hypertension should be closely observed and followed up for IOP and fundus conditions. This is because some patients may be early stage glaucoma patients who are mixed in with hypertension and have not yet developed optic nerve damage. If optic nerve damage and visual impairment are detected, the patient will not be diagnosed with “hypertension”, but with “glaucoma”. Laser or surgical treatment is required, and medication is also required on a case-by-case basis. For this type of disease, daily care is also important, mainly to avoid mood swings, strain, long hours of dark room work, no smoking, no alcohol, light diet, usually keep a happy mood, pay attention to rest, keep bowel movements smooth, wear loose clothing, appropriate exercise. In summary, the treatment of follow up high eye pressure disease is simple, but because the specific situation of the human body is different, the treatment plan will be relatively different, so it is still necessary to go to a specialist, improve the relevant examination to clarify the current situation, and then according to the symptoms of specific treatment personalized program, in order to achieve the best results.
