How to treat blood clots in legs

Leg thrombosis medically refers to arteriovenous thrombosis of the lower extremities, which are divided into arterial thrombosis of the lower extremities and venous thrombosis of the lower extremities, with different treatment methods. Lower extremity arterial thrombosis: including thrombo-occlusive vasculitis and arterial embolism. Thrombo-occlusive vasculitis can be treated with anti-platelet aggregation and vasodilator drugs, hyperbaric oxygen chamber, and also with traditional Chinese medicine. Bypass diversion can also be performed on the proximal and distal sides of the occluded artery. Arterial embolism can be treated with fibrinolytic drugs, anticoagulant drugs and vasodilator drugs. Three methods can be used: puncture injection through peripheral veins or proximal to the embolized artery and continuous drug administration through intra-arterial catheters using infusion pumps. If the diagnosis is clear, especially for large and middle artery embolism, if the systemic condition is good, the embolism should be taken directly by incision of artery or by balloon catheter as early as possible. Lower extremity venous thrombosis: including thrombotic superficial vein and deep vein thrombosis, thrombotic superficial phlebitis can be treated symptomatically for inflammation and thrombosis. Deep vein thrombosis can be treated medically, including anticoagulants, thrombolytic drugs and symptomatic medications. Anticoagulation is the basic treatment and is very important regardless of the stage of DVT; anticoagulants include heparin, low molecular heparin, warfarin and new anticoagulants. If the amount of DVT is large or has involved the iliac vein or inferior vena cava, thrombolysis is required; thrombolytic drugs include urokinase, fibrinolytic enzyme, tissue-type fibrinogen activator (t-PA), etc. If drug treatment is not effective, surgery or interventional treatment can be performed. The treatment of arteriovenous thrombosis of the lower extremities depends on the nature of the blood vessel and the location of the thrombosis. The basic treatment principles are fibrinolytic drugs, application of anticoagulant drugs and surgical or interventional treatment.
