Does pelvic fluid indicate cervical cancer?

Pelvic fluid does not indicate the presence of cervical cancer; pelvic fluid may be physiologic or pathologic.
Pelvic fluid is a manifestation of gynecologic disease rather than a disease, and it is rather an imaging description of the fluid in the pelvis. Pelvic fluid is not necessarily caused by cervical cancer; the most important risk factor for the development of cervical cancer is HPV infection.
During menstruation or ovulation, women may ooze or leak a small amount of fluid from the pelvic and abdominal organs, which is normal physiological pelvic fluid; pathological pelvic fluid can be caused by pelvic inflammatory disease, ectopic pregnancy, pelvic malignant tumor and other diseases.
The cause of pelvic effusion needs to be further identified, generally through the history, symptoms and signs, etc., can initially determine whether it is physiological or pathological effusion. For those suspected of having pathologic effusion, ultrasonography, routine blood tests, secretion smear and pathogen culture may be needed to clarify the cause.
