Taking laxatives to clear the bowel is a preoperative preparation for colonoscopy. If colonoscopy has not been done yet, in order to promote intestinal cleansing, fasting should be done, and it is not allowed to eat corn mush, if colonoscopy has been done for more than 2 hours without any discomfort, corn mush can be eaten.
If there is turbid liquid, stains, residual feces in the intestinal tract and it is not possible to aspirate completely, part of the intestinal mucosa will not be observable, which may lead to leakage of the diagnosis, therefore, corn paste should not be eaten after taking laxatives to clear the intestines. Patients are placed on a low residue/low fiber diet the day before the colonoscopy and are required to fast until the colonoscopy is complete after taking the laxative.
It is possible to eat corn mush after a bowel exam, usually after 2 hours of fasting for colonoscopies and painless colonoscopies when light, easy-to-digest foods can be eaten. If a biopsy or polypectomy has been performed during the colonoscopy, you will need to follow your doctor’s instructions to resume your diet.
