Gui Fu Di Huang Wan (桂附地黄丸) is composed of cinnamon, Radix et Rhizoma Polygoni Multiflori (附子), Radix Rehmanniae Praeparata (熟地黄), Cornus Officinalis (山茱萸), and Mudan Pi. It has the effect of warming and tonifying kidney yang (warming and replenishing kidney yang). It is used in treating impotence and coldness of the waist and knees caused by insufficiency of kidney yang (lack of yang qi in the kidneys), dysuria (unsmooth urination) or regurgitation of excessive urination, and wheezing and coughing due to phlegm and drink (pathological products formed as a result of impaired metabolism of water and fluid). Not recommended for pregnant women.
Si Shen Wan: It is composed of nutmeg (simmered), tonic acid (salt-fried) and schizandra (vinegar-made). It has the effects of warming the kidneys and dispersing cold (warming the kidneys and dispersing cold), astringing the intestines and stopping diarrhea (relieving diarrhea by enhancing the intestinal astringency). It is used for diarrhea caused by insufficiency of kidney yang, with symptoms such as tinnitus and abdominal distension, loose bowel movement, poor appetite, prolonged diarrhea, yellow face and cold limbs.
