How to test for liver fibrosis

Liver fibrosis testing includes invasive and non-invasive tests, the invasive test is mainly liver puncture, and the non-invasive test includes serologic test and liver transient elastography. 1. Invasive test: refers to liver puncture to take liver tissue for pathological examination, which is the gold standard for diagnosing liver fibrosis, but this test is risky and expensive. 2. Serological examination: refers to blood sampling for liver fibrosis indicators, including laminin, serum hyaluronic acid, type III precollagen, type IV collagen, and assess liver fibrosis by comparing with normal reference values. 3. Liver transient elastography: Doctors can assess liver stiffness based on the elasticity value of liver tissues reflecting to low-frequency ultrasound vibration waves, which can be used for early detection of liver fibrosis. For hepatitis patients, regular screening for liver fibrosis is needed for early detection and early treatment.
