Can you have tonsil surgery for pharyngitis?

If the pharyngitis is caused by excessive hypertrophy of tonsils, which leads to snoring and open-mouth breathing at night for a long period of time, or if the patient’s tonsils become “foci tonsils” due to repeated inflammation, and the pathogenic bacteria retained in them stimulate the throat for a long period of time and lead to recurrent episodes of pharyngitis, then surgical removal of tonsils can be considered. However, if the patient’s pharyngitis is caused by long-term smoking and drinking, eating spicy and stimulating diets and other factors, the removal of tonsils will not help much in the recovery of pharyngitis, but will aggravate pharyngitis. Therefore, patients with pharyngitis should maintain a healthy lifestyle and diet, quit smoking and drinking, eat a light diet, and strengthen exercise to enhance resistance.
