Does Entropion Surgery Recur After Blepharoplasty?

Inflammatory infections, trauma, and aging may still occur after endolophthalmos surgery, resulting in reoccurrence of endolophthalmos. Inflammatory infections and trauma to the eyelid can result in scarring due to the repair process, and the fibrous tissue of the scar can pull on the eyelid as it matures, and the pulling force can cause a recurrence of entropion. Age-related atrophy of orbital adipose tissue, which weakens the support of the adipose tissue to the eyelid, may also lead to recurrence of entropion. Surgical treatment of entropion can temporarily restore the structure and function of the eyelid, but if entropion recurs as a result of eyelid infection, trauma, or other conditions, another surgical procedure may be necessary.
