Breast massage can prevent benign breast lumps? You won’t get breast cancer after menopause? …… Women in China enter the breast cancer incidence period at the age of 35 or above, and reach the high incidence period at the age of 45 to 54. Women who have raised their awareness of prevention will look for ways to prevent breast incidence from various ways – breast massage in beauty salons, drinking red wine, taking vitamins as meals …… However, this is not scientific.
Experts say that at present, the factors responsible for the high incidence of breast cancer in urban women are complex, and it is generally believed that late marriage and late childbirth, fewer births, shorter breastfeeding time, and a rapidly disordered urban life, which all lead to endocrine disruption and induce the onset of breast cancer. This is a myth that needs to be scientifically based to be valid.
This week, Health Weekly invited four authoritative breast surgery experts to analyze the misconceptions in daily life and bring the latest treatment concepts and methods for patients.
Breast cancer is caused by indiscriminate breast maintenance?
”A few years ago, when I had a medical checkup, some benign nodules were detected in my breasts. The doctor said that there was no need for surgery for the time being, and the beauty salon had breast care, so I have been using massage to solve the problem, but I never thought that breast cancer would grow out! The 30-year-old Ms. Zhang has been puzzled that massage can prevent breast enlargement and benign breast lumps, as well as prevent the blockage of breast ducts, why is it still a problem?
Doctor: Breast cancer is not necessarily related to breast massage, but if you often use cosmetics with added estrogen, you can’t rule out that they will have some correlation. Regular breast massage is actually a check-up for yourself. But nowadays, beauty salons often use breast enlargement oil or breast enlargement cream to massage, although applying the oil can help strengthen breast skin support and prevent breast sagging. However, there are reports that many of the breast enlargement creams and breast health creams on the market are added with estrogen, and although they can soon make the breasts swell, they ignore the fact that large doses of estrogen applied locally may lead to chemical carcinogenesis, and increase the risk of breast cancer. Therefore, women should be careful with cosmetics.
Can’t you get breast cancer if you have breastfeeding experience?
”I’ve been breastfeeding for 8 months, I shouldn’t have breast cancer!” Ms. Lin, 35 years old, is still puzzled by such test results.
Doctor: It is true that women who are celibate, have not given birth or have given birth after 35 years old, or have not breastfed or breastfeeding abnormally over 40 years old have a higher rate of breast cancer. However, having breastfeeding experience does not guarantee that you are 100% safe from breast cancer, because there are many factors that cause breast cancer and they are very complicated. If you maintain a high level of other factors that cause the disease, this favorable factor will not be able to compete with many unfavorable factors, or become unfavorable. Therefore, you should not take any chances in breast examination.
3. Will you not get breast cancer after menopause?
The same doubt exists for 60-year-old Emu Huang. She said she has been menopausal for almost 5 years, but she didn’t expect that she would get breast cancer.
Doctor: Older women aged 55 to 65 generally think that they will not get breast cancer because they have been menopausal for a long time and their breast glands have shrunk. In fact, this is not true. According to the survey, women aged 55-65 may not only develop breast cancer, but also miss the disease due to long-term neglect of breast examination.
According to clinical data, the second peak of breast cancer incidence is between 55 and 65 years old, and the incidence of breast cancer gradually decreases in women over 70 years old. Older women should also pay high attention to breast screening for early detection and treatment of breast cancer.
No family history of breast cancer, no need to check every year!
”No one in my family has ever had breast cancer, how come I will get it?” 28-year-old Ms. Zhang got the final confirmation sheet, a result that she could not believe!
Doctor: Family genetic factors are one of the main reasons for breast cancer patients to develop the disease. For example, people who have breast cancer in their mothers, sisters and other family members are four times more likely to develop the disease than others. However, just because you don’t have a family history of the disease doesn’t mean that you are not in the high-risk group and can enter the “safe” box without worry.
If you have a family member who has cervical cancer or other gynecological cancers, the gene may also affect you. If you are always weak and have a low immune system, breast cancer can also take advantage of the situation. With these factors, regular checkups are never to be missed.
5. Everything will be fine after breast cancer removal?
90% of the patients think that after the removal of breast cancer, the root of the disease is completely removed, and they will never get breast cancer again, and they do not need to do the relevant examination.
Doctor: Removing breast cancer does not mean goodbye to breast cancer forever, besides paying attention to daily health care, the scientific practice is: patients who have breast-conserving surgery should be reviewed every six months in the first three years, and after three years, they should be reviewed once a year when they enter the stable stage; patients who have unilateral mastectomy should be checked at least once a year to avoid new cancer in the other breast.
Breast cancer incidence is so high, can it be prevented?
”More and more people around me are suffering from breast cancer, and two of my college roommates have been detected, as if breast cancer is contagious. Is there something wrong with the environment or our life ……” Facing the increasing incidence of breast cancer, many female friends have some doubts, can breast cancer be prevented?
Doctor: From the theme of this year’s World Cancer Day “Cancer is also preventable”, we know that 40% of cancers have the potential to be prevented, and about 1/3 of cancers can be avoided by promoting a healthy lifestyle, improving the living environment and avoiding exposure to carcinogenic substances.
1. First of all, moderate exercise. It is recommended to do long, rhythmic, non-strenuous, large muscle aerobic exercises, such as walking, jogging, swimming, cycling, aerobic gymnastics, etc., for 3-5 days a week for more than half an hour each time.
2, a reasonable and healthy dietary structure. It is recommended that each person should eat 300g~500g of cereals; vegetables (400g~500g) and fruits (100g~200g); livestock, poultry, meat, eggs and fish and shrimp, 125g~200g per day; 100g of milk and beans and their products, 50g of beans and soy products. not more than 25g of fats and oils, and not more than 6g of salt. sweet potatoes, asparagus, cauliflower, etc. are rich in anti-cancer ingredients and more They can be eaten to prevent cancer.
3.Control obesity. Control obesity through a combination of diet control and exercise, and adhere to it for a long time, but the speed should not be too fast.
Quit smoking, avoid passive smoking and limit alcohol. Some data show that there is a clear relationship between breast cancer and smoking.
5.In addition, we should maintain an optimistic and positive attitude towards life and learn to reduce stress by ourselves. Try to breastfeed your baby and avoid abortion. Reduce long-term hormone replacement therapy if no special treatment is needed.
Adult women advocate regular breast cancer screening, because early detection, early diagnosis and early treatment are the most important means to reduce breast cancer deaths. Breast cancer in situ is almost 100% curable, and the survival rates of stage I, II, III and IV patients can reach 97%, 75.9%, 45% and 20% respectively. The World Health Organization believes that breast cancer screening can reduce the mortality rate, and breast cancer screening in developed countries such as Europe and America has been successful.
Breast cancer is becoming more and more about individualized treatment
”A friend of mine has breast cancer and has been treated by several doctors after surgery. It seems that each doctor’s treatment plan is not the same. I have also read in the media that there are more and more treatment options for breast cancer. Which one is more suitable for you?”
Doctor: Breast has a special meaning to women, and breast cancer makes women suffer from both physical and mental blows. The current treatment model has quietly changed, advocating individualized treatment and gradually reducing the scope of surgery.
First of all, breast preservation surgery with advanced radiotherapy equipment and irradiation techniques can locally destroy the residual tumor cells and its effect is the same as that of total mastectomy. If there is no metastasis in the anterior lymph nodes, axillary lymph node dissection can be considered to avoid edema in the affected upper limbs.
Secondly, breast cancer treatment has entered the molecular era and individualized treatment is advocated. At the molecular biology level, breast cancer can be divided into three types, triple negative breast cancer, HER-2 high expression breast cancer and hormone receptor positive breast cancer. The three types of breast cancer are also treated differently, with triple negative breast cancer relying mainly on chemotherapy, HER-2 high expressing type relying mainly on Herceptin and chemotherapy, and hormone receptor positive breast cancer benefiting mainly from endocrine therapy. Such typing of treatment can avoid over-chemotherapy.
In addition, new drugs have been invented and marketed in recent years, bringing a new paradigm and hope of cure for breast cancer patients, and new targeted drugs will be the latest method and means of breast cancer treatment.
Minimally invasive biopsy for suspected breast cancer
”During a medical checkup not long ago, I found a small lump on my left side, and the ultrasound diagnosed it as a fibroid. The doctor said that most of the fibroids are benign and suggested me to review them regularly. But since my grandmother died of breast cancer, I am worried about having a genetic predisposition. How can I determine the nature of the lump?”
Doctor: Breast fibroadenoma is the most common benign lump in young women, often multiple and prone to recurrence. In the past, open surgery was often taken to remove the lump, and many women even experienced several surgeries, which not only left unsightly surgical scars on their beautiful breasts, but also might bring fear or sorrow to the mind.
Now with minimally invasive puncture techniques, a small incision can be made to take a sample biopsy and determine the nature of the lump, which can also be removed to reduce the possibility of malignancy. Minimally invasive breast surgery involves a puncture needle that is passed to the site of the breast mass. Only a small skin incision (2 mm) is required to remove the tissue for histopathological biopsy and diagnosis. If multiple small lumps need to be removed, the breast mass is removed in its entirety with a rotary cutter on the puncture needle, which results in an extremely minimally invasive procedure that leaves no scars on the breast and reduces the patient’s psychological burden.
Minimally invasive treatment of breast lumps should be less than 3 cm
”Minimally invasive surgery takes a total of 15 to 30 minutes before and after, and can be completed in an outpatient clinic.” Lin Zhiwu, deputy chief physician of the breast specialty of the Department of Oncology Surgery at the provincial hospital, said that minimally invasive surgery is now performed under local anesthesia, usually using ultrasound and other imaging guidance to pass the biopsy probe through the skin and reach the underside of the target mass.
The breast microsurgery draws tissue into the collection slot of the biopsy probe and performs spinotomy sampling under light vacuum suction until the benign mass in the breast is completely or partially removed. The procedure can be completed in less than 30 minutes and is usually an outpatient procedure that does not require general anesthesia or postoperative suturing. After the procedure, the incision is simply covered with a small band-aid and the patient can go home.
The use of minimally invasive techniques for the treatment of breast tumors is now well established and can achieve the same results as traditional open surgery. For benign breast masses less than 3.0 cm, fibroadenomas, nodules, asymmetric density, multifocal lesions and microcalcifications of unknown pathological nature, breast masses requiring excisional biopsy.
