Common rehabilitation training methods for gluteal muscular atrophy include prone straight leg upward swing, gluteal bridge, clam opening and closing, supine top hip training.
1. Prone position straight leg upward swing: the patient is lying in prone position, both lower limbs are straight, when exhaling, the gluteal muscles will try to lift one side of the lower limb upward to the highest point, and then slowly fall down, repeat the above action. Elastic bands or sandbags can be used to increase the difficulty of training.
2. Hip bridge: the patient lies on his back, both lower limbs are flexed, the gluteus muscle exerts force to lift the hip upward to the highest point when he exhales, and then falls down slowly and repeats. Barbell piece, dumbbells, etc. can be utilized for weight-bearing to increase the difficulty of training.
3. Bung opening and closing: the patient lies on the side, the trunk remains stable, the lower limbs are flexed, the feet do not move, the gluteal muscle exerts force to lift the upper knee upward and outward when exhaling, and then slowly descends and repeats. You can use elastic ring and other tools to increase the resistance to improve the training difficulty.
4. Supine top hip: the patient lies on his back, feet on a chair or box, both lower limbs are flexed, the gluteus muscle exerts to lift the hip upward when exhaling, and maintains it at the highest point for 1 to 2 seconds, then inhales and slowly falls down. Barbell weights can be utilized to increase the difficulty of training.
It is recommended that patients with gluteal muscular dystrophy seek medical attention in a timely manner, under the guidance of a professional doctor to carry out scientific rehabilitation training, to avoid blind training on their own, so as not to cause adverse consequences.
