Mumps in children, is a common respiratory infection caused by the mumps virus. The disease has flu-like symptoms in its early stages, with fever, headache, nausea, vomiting, and loss of appetite, followed by pain and swelling around the earlobe, which increases significantly when eating acidic foods, after which the body temperature rises rapidly. After 2-3 days of enlargement of one parotid gland, most of them can be involved in the opposite side. The swelling of the parotid gland expands around it and the edges are not very clear, and the parotiditis disappears in about 10 days. There is no specific treatment for parotitis, but antiviral and symptomatic treatment is often used, such as oral ribavirin pellets, more rest, and eating easy-to-digest and light foods.
