Proper treatment of gallbladder polyps

For gallbladder polyps, most patients are found by ultrasound during physical examination and are asymptomatic. A few patients may experience discomfort such as pain in the right upper abdomen, nausea and vomiting and loss of appetite. Since a few gallbladder polyps may be early-stage gallbladder cancer or may become cancerous during the course of the disease, it is important to pay proper attention to gallbladder polyps. The following conditions should be considered as risk factors for possible cancer: diameter of 1 cm; age over 50 years; single polyp lesion; short-term polyps gradually increasing in size; combined gallbladder stones, combined with cholecystitis, etc. For those with the above symptoms, surgical removal is recommended. Nowadays, minimally invasive surgery and laparoscopic treatment are generally performed, and recovery is fast, with recovery in 2-3 days after surgery. However, those who do not meet the above criteria should not be taken lightly. Many young asymptomatic gallbladder polyps can be treated without any treatment, but regular ultrasound examinations are necessary.
