How to recognize gallbladder polyps?

There are many patients who have gallbladder polyps found during ultrasound in outpatient clinics. Patients are often worried about gallbladder polyps and are worried about gallbladder polyps becoming cancerous. How should we determine gallbladder polyps? There are three types of gallbladder polyps: cholesterol crystals, true polyps, and polyp-type early gallbladder cancer. 1, cholesterol crystals are the most common, often multiple, mostly strong echogenicity under ultrasound, some loose crystals also show medium echogenicity, and there is usually no discomfort. This type is not harmful to human body and can be followed up with ultrasound. 2.True polyp is a tissue lesion on the wall of gallbladder, mainly adenoma, adenomatous hyperplasia, inflammatory polyp, etc. Among them, when adenoma and adenomatous hyperplasia are >25px, they have potential cancer possibility. 3.The polyp type early gallbladder cancer is relatively rare and generally grows faster. 4. Among them, cholesterol crystals and inflammatory polyps have the possibility of becoming smaller in the follow-up. Therefore, we generally follow the following principles to deal with them: 1.Gallbladder polyps are preferred for ultrasound follow-up. 2.Single polyps larger than 25px are recommended to be operated. 3.The polyps with faster growth rate during the follow-up are recommended to be operated. 4.The risk of multiple polyps is very small, even if they are larger than 25px, they can still be followed up as long as they grow slowly.
