What’s wrong with leg pain after a cerebral infarction?

The phenomenon of leg pain after cerebral infarction may be the sequelae of cerebral infarction, or it may be caused by factors such as venous thrombosis of lower limbs or hemiplegia.
1. Sequelae of cerebral infarction: when leg pain occurs after cerebral infarction, it is considered that the infarction is in the thalamus. Because thalamus is the center of sensory nerve fibers in human body, when thalamus infarction occurs, patients will not only show symptoms such as numbness of limbs, but also show pain in limbs.
2. Lower extremity venous thrombosis: due to the cerebral infarction patients lying in bed for a long time, which leads to the formation of deep vein thrombosis in the lower extremity, thus may appear the phenomenon of post-infarction pain, and may also be accompanied by leg swelling, superficial varicose veins and other clinical symptoms.
3. Hemiplegia: After cerebral infarction, patients may show post-cerebral infarction leg pain due to dysfunction of activity and joint damage caused by reduced leg activity.
If the above symptoms occur, it is recommended to feedback to the clinician and take corresponding treatment measures.
