Is it normal to have a bright spot during a 4D exam?

Strong spots of light in the heart are common on fetal 4D ultrasound performed at 24-28 weeks of gestation, most of which are calcifications and about 99% of which are normal. Focal strong echoes in the ventricle is a common ultrasound soft indicator in ultrasound examination, generally no clinical significance, may be caused by thickening of the tendon cords in the ventricle or calcification of the papillae, intra-papillary coronary ischemia, about 99% are normal. However, about 1% may be associated with fetal chromosomal abnormalities. If ventricular focal echoes are present during labor and delivery examination, it is usually recommended to improve non-invasive DNA to rule out fetal chromosomal abnormalities and fetal cardiac ultrasound to rule out cardiac malformations. Ventricular focal echoes alone without fetal cardiac anomalies are usually of no clinical significance. If abnormalities are detected during labor and delivery examination, it is recommended to consult an obstetrician promptly and follow the doctor’s advice.
