Open wounds have different healing times depending on the type of injury, wound treatment and the patient’s condition, usually between one and two weeks.
1. The healing time of different ways of injury: ordinary open wounds usually heal in one or two weeks, penetrating wounds, firearm injuries, deep dog bites and so on can make the healing time significantly delayed, and need special clinical treatment, if not handled correctly can even be life-threatening.
2. The healing time of different wound treatments: small open wounds that do not require suturing will usually scab within 1 day, and the scabs will fall off and heal within 1-2 weeks; open wounds that require suturing have different healing cycles according to different parts of the injury, as follows.
The skin of the head, face and neck has good blood circulation and heals quickly, usually taking only 5 to 7 days;
The ends of the extremities, especially around mobile joints, usually take 12 to 14 days to heal;
The healing time for trunk suture wounds is usually 10 to 12 days.
3. Wound healing cycle of different people: the elderly, poor nutritional status, diabetic patients and other groups of people wound healing cycle may be prolonged, and some may even lead to prolonged healing, can not be healed.
If an open wound occurs, do not treat it by yourself, but go to the hospital immediately to rule out life-threatening conditions, and actively treat it to shorten the healing time.
