Diabetic patients must quit smoking

If you smoke, you know very well that smoking is a bad idea. Almost everyone has told you to quit smoking. You may feel you have done enough. Try to cut back on the candy, starchy and fatty foods you once loved. Sacrifice valuable leisure time for exercise. If you also have high blood pressure, you’ve been warned to reduce your salt intake. And now they want you to quit smoking? This may seem excessive, but it’s really important. Smoking has some of the same consequences as high blood sugar. If you have diabetes, you are almost two to four times more likely to develop coronary heart disease than the normal population. If diabetes is combined with smoking, then the consequences are really bad. Although, quitting smoking is a very difficult thing to do, it is also something that has to be done. According to the American Diabetes Association, almost all diabetic patients who need amputation are smokers.
