Bone marrow aspirations do not have a significant impact on the patient’s health. This is because bone marrow aspiration is a test that must be performed in clinical work in order to diagnose diseases of the blood system. When bone marrow is drawn, anesthesia is administered, unlike when blood is drawn, which can be painful. This is because blood is drawn without anesthesia. The bone marrow is drawn under local anesthesia, and the patient is awake and does not feel any pain. Because bone marrow is a relatively fast proliferating tissue, it is quickly recovered and does not cause any effects on the body. The only contraindication is hemophilia. Patients with hemophilia may experience excessive bleeding because of abnormal blood clotting. Therefore, bone marrow aspiration is generally not done for hemophilia patients, and other patients can have bone marrow aspiration tests without any concerns and without any effects.
