Patients with severe mitral regurgitation usually require surgery, and medication is generally ineffective. Mitral regurgitation is usually caused by an incomplete closure of the mitral valve, resulting in a regurgitation of blood, which can lead to symptoms such as shortness of breath, panic attacks, and chest pain. For patients with severe mitral regurgitation, surgical procedures include mitral valve repair and plasty and mitral valve replacement. 1. Mitral Valve Repair and Plasty: Mitral Valve Repair and Plasty is suitable for patients with good mobility, and can use the patient’s own tissues and artificial substitutes to repair the mitral valve to restore the integrity of the mitral valve, thus improving the related symptoms. 2. Mitral valve replacement: If the mitral valve is severely damaged and not amenable to mitral valve repair and plasty, patients can be treated with mitral valve replacement. There are also minimally invasive interventional techniques for mitral valve repair, but the main one is mainly in the clinical trial stage in China, and it is believed that minimally invasive interventional mitral valve treatment will be routinely carried out in the future. It should be noted that blood pressure and central venous pressure need to be monitored after surgery, and bed rest is required for a period of time after surgery. Specific treatment programs and postoperative care are recommended to follow the doctor’s instructions.
