Meaning of low eosinophil ratio

A low eosinophil ratio means that the number of eosinophils in a routine blood test is reduced as a percentage of the total number of white blood cells.
Generally, the normal percentage of eosinophils is between 0.5% and 5%, below 0.5% is low eosinophil ratio, it may be the decline in the number of eosinophils itself, or it may be the decline in the relative ratio of eosinophils caused by other leukocytosis, which needs to be determined by a combination of other indicators.
If there is only one item of low eosinophil ratio in the routine blood test, then it cannot be ruled out that it is caused by the error of instrumental detection, which is of little clinical significance and does not require treatment for the time being, and it can be rechecked in a few days.
Low eosinophil ratio can be seen in some physiological factors, such as extreme fatigue, cold and other stress, but also in some pathological factors, such as typhoid fever, paratyphoid fever, as well as the use of adrenocorticotropic hormone treatment of the patient, may appear low eosinophil ratio. It is recommended to further improve the relevant examination to clarify the etiology.
