1. What is a dural arteriovenous fistula? It is a disease of the external vasculature of the spinal cord in which the arteries and veins communicate abnormally, resulting in obstruction of spinal venous return, spinal cord congestion, edema, necrosis, and sensory abnormalities, motor and bowel disorders. It is an acquired disease. The incidence of male: female: 7.5:1, the incidence of spinal cord vascular malformation accounted for 68%. 2.Main clinical manifestations: walking difficulties, sensory abnormalities and sphincter dysfunction gradually worsen; auxiliary examinations needed: MR, DSA. 3.Treatment Treatment principle: surgical treatment is the mainstay, supplemented by intravascular embolization. Postoperative hyperbaric oxygen can help to improve the prognosis if the symptoms are severe. The prognosis is directly related to the early detection of the disease. If there are middle-aged patients with progressive bilateral lower limb sensorimotor disorders and sphincter dysfunction, spinal MRI should be done, and spinal angiography is feasible to further clarify the diagnosis.
