How to tell if it’s muscle pain or nerve pain

Muscle pain and neuralgia can be differentiated according to pain characteristics, symptoms and examination results as follows.
1. Pain characteristics: muscle pain is generally small in scope and pressure points can be found, neuralgia is larger in scope, radiating pain, and generally there is no clear pressure points.
2. Symptoms: muscle pain is generally characterized by soreness or swelling, neuralgia is generally characterized by tingling, may feel numbness, sometimes accompanied by weakness of the painful area.
3. Examination results: Generally speaking, the cause of muscle pain with lesions can be found through radiography or CT examination, and electromyography can check whether there is any damage to the nerves.
Once the pain can not be relieved or the pain is severe, you should go to the hospital in time to find out the cause and take treatment under the doctor’s guidance.
