New research shows that consuming more calcium-rich foods can reduce the chances of women’s risk of rectal cancer, and likewise, taking various calcium supplement products can also play a preventive role, even better than through dietary supplements. In this trial, researchers surveyed more than 45,000 women who did not have cancer (featured interview consultation) disease. Of these, 482 unfortunately developed rectal cancer on average in the 8.5 year of the study process. The study data showed that women who consumed at least 800 mg of calcium per day were 26 percentage points less likely to develop rectal cancer than those who consumed less than 530 mg of calcium per day. Women who consumed more than 412 mg of calcium per day from their diet and supplemented with at least 800 mg of calcium from calcium supplements were 46 percentage points less likely to develop rectal cancer. Therefore, calcium supplementation in any form will have a positive effect on protection against rectal cancer. Therefore, the researchers recommend an appropriate daily intake of 1200 mg of calcium, in any form.
