How bunion surgery works

The surgical principle of a bunion is actually a surgical operation to regain the soft tissue balance on the inside and outside of the bunion that has lost its balance. The bunion should also be completely removed due to the presence of a growth in it that affects the medial aspect of the bunion and causes painful compression of the bursa and joint capsule. The surgical procedure for a bunion involves first severing the bunion’s lateral medial bunion muscle so that its pull to the lateral side is lost and this tilts the balance to the medial side. In addition, the bursa on the medial side of the bunion is removed, the growth is cut away, and the medial joint capsule is tightened so that the bunion is completely corrected at the soft tissue level.
