Does open heart surgery hurt?

There is significant pain associated with craniotomy. However, the degree of pain varies according to each person’s physical condition and tolerance level. During craniotomy, the patient is under general anesthesia and has no consciousness, no activity, and no memory. So in this case, the patient is in a very peaceful state. There is some pain after the surgery, but it can be relieved by appropriate means. Generally, oral medications such as loxoprofen and acetaminophen are given first for relief. If this is not effective, ketorolac aminotriol can be applied intravenously for relief. If the patient still has persistent pain, a review of the head CT is needed to see if there are any other comorbid changes. If there are no other changes, toxic anesthetic drugs, including morphine and dulcolax, can be used to relieve the pain. Therefore, pain can occur in the later stages of craniotomy, but do not worry too much, there are ways to relieve it.
