Some secretory otitis media misdiagnosed as tinnitus and deafness

A lady patient, with hearing loss in left ear and tinnitus in left ear for 1 week was admitted to a hospital with sudden deafness and tinnitus for half a month, and after using vasodilator and nerve-nourishing drugs, there was no significant improvement. The treating doctor discharged him to try to adapt, the patient was very painful, tinnitus was very disturbing to the patient, after discharge, he came to us for treatment, after detailed history, the patient had unilateral low tone tinnitus, hearing could be improved after tympanic membrane massage, then treated according to secretory otitis media for one week, hearing and tinnitus improved, subsequent treatment for one week, healed. When encountering a patient with unilateral low-pitched tinnitus, even if the impedance test is normal, attention should be paid to exclude secretory otitis media.
