Is a fever from esophageal cancer an indication of aggravation

Patients with esophageal cancer may have fever in middle or late stage, but fever does not mean that the disease is aggravated. In the process of disease progression, patients with esophageal cancer or other related tumors will be affected by bacteria and viruses in the external environment due to the decrease in body quality, malnutrition, hypoproteinemia, leukopenia and so on, which will lower their immunity. Some patients may easily have cold, fever or other related symptoms after being exposed to cold, which is related to the history and characteristics of the disease, but it does not necessarily mean that the disease is aggravated. Therefore, if patients with esophageal cancer have fever or may be induced to have fever, they should pay attention to adjustments, such as paying attention to keeping warm, increasing nutrient intake, reviewing albumin, reducing malnutrition or hypoproteinemia, etc., which can be adjusted and controlled in the long term.
