The efficacy and effects of Jingwu are dispelling wind and relieving epidemics, penetrating rashes and eliminating sores (promoting the penetration of rashes to the outside and eliminating skin sores), and stopping bleeding.
It is mainly used in the treatment of exogenous superficial symptoms (mainly manifested as respiratory symptoms after feeling external evils), impenetrable measles, itchy rubella, sores with superficial symptoms at the beginning of sores, epistaxis (vomiting of blood, nosebleed) and blood, colds and headache, and so on.
Clinically, it is used to treat hematemesis and epistaxis due to blood-heat paranoia (abnormal outflow of blood due to heat), often combined with Radix Rehmanniae Praeparata and Radix Bupleurum officinale; for treating blood-heat in stools and hemorrhoids, it is often used in combination with Rhizoma Dioscoreae and Rhizoma Sophora; for treating blood in women’s disintegration and leakage (menstrual bleeding in excessive amount or more than one drip), it is often used in combination with Radix Cimicifuga and Rhizoma Ganguanzus.
