Introduction: Why do children always have colds and coughs that recur very often after they get well? A child’s recurrent cold is a manifestation of recurrent pediatric respiratory infections.
First, when the seasons change, some children with poor resistance may have repeated respiratory infections, even heavier than one at a time, for bronchitis in older children, while pneumonia may occur in infants and toddlers. Both may eventually develop into pneumonia.
Secondly, children with precordial disease have been in poor health since childhood due to chronic hypoxia, pulmonary congestion and pulmonary stasis, and are prone to colds and other respiratory infections. Even after surgery, the structural defects of the heart are compensated, but the physique does not recover all at once. The more severe the structural changes, the slower the recovery.
Why do children with precordial disease often catch colds?
Because atrial septal defect, ventricular septal defect, and patent ductus arteriosus, the three most common precordial diseases in children, all cause red blood from the left side of the child’s heart to flow through the defect to black blood flow on the right side, leaving the pulmonary vessels in a congested state and the lung tissue edematous, leading to a decrease in resistance, which predisposes the child to colds and induces pneumonia.
Symptoms
Mild congenital heart disease can have no obvious symptoms, if the disease develops to a certain stage, or some more serious congenital heart disease, often have the following symptoms.
1, prone to respiratory infections: usually prone to repeated colds, prone to bronchitis, pneumonia, which in turn further leads to or aggravates heart failure.
2, cyanosis. Cyanotic lips: especially obvious after activity is a prominent manifestation of cyanotic heart disease (such as large-vessel misalignment, tetralogy of Fallot, etc.).
3.Limited growth and development: congenital heart disease mostly has growth retardation, and it is especially obvious in those with cyanosis, which seriously affects intellectual development.
Poor activity endurance: Most children with congenital heart disease will show easy fatigue after activity.
5, heart murmur: most congenital heart disease can be heard murmur, this murmur is relatively loud and rough, serious cases can be accompanied by precordial tremor.
6, sweating: some children with heart disease are prone to sweating, sweating at the slightest activity, and sweating when sleeping.
7, squatting: like to squat, do not like to stand, because squatting is more comfortable, this is a typical manifestation of congenital heart disease – Farrow quadruplex.
8, syncope: some children suddenly lose consciousness when crying, emotional or strenuous activities, generalized weakness, eyes rolled up, increased cyanosis, and even incontinence of urine and stool.
9, other symptoms: congenital heart disease such as extreme enlargement of the left atrium or pulmonary artery dilatation compressing the recurrent laryngeal nerve, the cry is hoarse since childhood, easy shortness of breath, cough.
10.Infants have special manifestations: such as difficulty in feeding, stopping after a few sips of sucking, shortness of breath, and preference for vertical holding. What can be done to make the child’s respiratory tract “healthy”?
The best way to prevent respiratory tract infections is physical exercise. You can enhance your child’s physical fitness by participating in regular physical exercises, such as outdoor activities and gymnastics, which can reduce the number of respiratory tract infections in children.
In addition, go to outdoor places with fresh air more often and do not go to crowded places, for example, children who have a little cold will definitely infect each other. A sneeze can be contagious, so these places should be visited as little as possible. Of course there are also some weather reasons, do not go to places with bad weather. When the outdoor haze is heavy and the air is humid, it is best not to go outdoors. The haze contains not only mist and moisture, the composition of the haze is very suitable for the growth of microorganisms, not only chemical damage to the body and microbial damage.
