How hepatitis B is transmitted

There are three ways to transmit hepatitis B: 1) mother-to-child transmission: the mother transmits it to her newborn through pregnancy, childbirth or breastfeeding, also known as vertical transmission, which is the most common way; 2) blood transmission: unsafe injections, blood transfusions or drug use and other blood-borne transmission; 3) sexual transmission: unprotected sex with a person infected with hepatitis B. These are the three major ways of transmission of hepatitis B. Other lifestyles that come in contact with blood need some attention, such as contaminated blades with viruses or instruments that are not well disinfected, tattoos or manicures without attention, which may increase the chances of hepatitis B transmission. General lifestyle does not transmit hepatitis B. For example, sharing chopsticks, swimming together, working together, eating together, etc. does not transmit hepatitis B. Hepatitis B is not transmitted through diet.
