Ki67 positivity rate of about 5% suggests a low degree of malignancy, indicating that the tumor has low proliferative activity and develops more slowly, but it is also necessary to refer to the tumor type and stage to determine whether it is serious or not.
Ki67 antigen is a reliable indicator of tumor proliferative activity, high Ki67 positivity rate indicates active tumor proliferation, higher risk of recurrence and metastasis, poor tumor differentiation, high degree of malignancy, and poorer prognosis; while the opposite is true when the Ki67 positivity rate is low, the tumor has low degree of malignancy, and the prognosis is better.
High and low Ki67 positivity rate defined values are related to different tumor types and pathology centers. Generally speaking, 20-30% is the cut-off value for breast cancer, 25% for gastric cancer and cervical cancer, and the cut-off value should also refer to the value determined by the pathology center of the local hospital.
However, 5% Ki67 positivity rate is a low value for all kinds of tumors, which indicates low proliferative activity, low risk of metastasis and recurrence, better differentiation, lower malignancy and better prognosis.
Ki67 positivity rate of 5% is a good result, but to judge the severity of the tumor, it is recommended to combine with the tumor pathological type, stage and other indicators of immunohistochemistry to make a comprehensive judgment, and follow the doctor’s instructions to carry out treatment and regular review.
