The following is a brief description of the relationship between the location of the rectum and the prostate: the prostate is located below the bladder, in front of the pubic symphysis, and behind it, next to the anterior rectal wall. The two lobes of the prostate and the central sulcus can be clearly felt during anal examination with the index finger through the anus. The patient can be palpated to see if the central sulcus is shallow, if there is obvious pressure pain or if there are hard hyperplastic nodules to determine if there is prostate hyperplasia, prostatitis or prostate tumor. It is also possible to perform a prostate puncture through the rectum and take some tissue for pathological biopsy to further clarify the prostate disease.
