How can kidney transplant patients fight off germs?

Why are kidney transplant patients easily infected? Kidney transplant patients need to take immunosuppressants for a long time, the effect of this drug is to suppress the immune system in the body to prevent the body from rejecting the new kidney; but at the same time, the immune system becomes weaker and the body becomes less resistant to germs, so if an infection occurs it is extremely easy to aggravate. Among all kinds of infections, the most common is lung infection, and the urinary system and digestive system are also the parts prone to infection. What are the common symptoms of infection? The most common symptom of an infection is a fever, which is a sign that the immune system is mobilized. An active immune system directly leads to an increased rejection reaction, and it is easy to see a rise in creatinine when fever is present, i.e. kidney damage. Diarrhea is also a common symptom of infection. If the symptoms are mild, you can take some anti-diarrheal medication and have your creatinine tested promptly; however, if the diarrhea is severe and prolonged, you may have to adjust the dosage of hormones and immunosuppressants according to medical advice to avoid further aggravation of the infection. Can patients only stay at home? Within 3-12 months after surgery, patients are advised to avoid going to crowded places, such as supermarkets, restaurants, etc. If they do, they should wear hats and masks, especially when they go back to the hospital for follow-up. What should I do if I have a small wound on my skin? The skin has a small wound to apply alcohol-based disinfectant as soon as possible, if there is a wound infection, it will be more likely to aggravate than ordinary people, mainly because immunosuppressants, hormones will affect the healing time of the wound. Should I take antibiotics to prevent infection in normal time? The recovery after kidney transplant is a very long-term process, there is no need to be very nervous every day, if an infection occurs, it is not too late to treat it with medicine; antibiotics do not improve the patient’s resistance, at the same time these drugs must have side effects, long-term use is bound to lead to drug resistance, liver and kidney damage and other problems; similarly, as long as it is not the season of high prevalence of influenza, there is no need to drink Banlangen or other Chinese medicine to prevent it.
