Difference between levofloxacin hydrochloride and azithromycin

Levofloxacin hydrochloride and azithromycin are two types of antibiotics that both have antibacterial effects, but have different mechanisms of antibacterial action and target a different spectrum of pathogens. Levofloxacin hydrochloride belongs to the quinolone class of antibiotics and is very effective against gram-negative bacilli and also against gram-positive cocci. Azithromycin belongs to the macrolide class of antibiotics and has a relatively good antibacterial effect on Mycoplasma and Chlamydia, as well as on other Gram-positive and negative bacteria. Levofloxacin hydrochloride can be used in the treatment of genitourinary system infections, upper respiratory tract infections and other infections. Azithromycin can be used as the drug of choice for the treatment of chlamydial and mycoplasma infections. Moreover, azithromycin is relatively safe and can be used safely in infants and children. Levofloxacin hydrochloride should never be used in infants, children and adolescents under the age of 18.
