Whether hydronephrosis needs surgery or not is mainly based on the comprehensive consideration of the condition and so on, and cannot be generalized.
For asymptomatic patients with hydronephrosis without kidney infection, ultrasound, CT, intravenous urography can be performed every 6 to 12 months for review and observation, and surgery can be withheld if there is no progress.
For patients with severe hydronephrosis caused by urinary stones, percutaneous nephrolithotripsy, extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy, ureteroscopy lithotripsy lithotripsy and other surgical methods can be used to remove the stones, so that the urinary tract is restored to smooth. For patients with hydronephrosis showing serious impairment of renal function, the kidney can be surgically removed if the opposite side has normal renal function.
Whether surgery is needed or not, it is recommended to consult the doctor in time and follow the doctor’s instructions to improve the relevant examinations. After clarifying the degree of urinary tract deformity, obstruction and stenosis, the doctor will make a comprehensive assessment and choose the appropriate treatment according to the actual situation of the patient.
