Gui Zhi Tang with Cang Zhu and Radix et Rhizoma Polygoni Multiflori has the efficacy of warming menstruation and promoting Yang, consolidating the exterior to dispel wind, and dispelling dampness to remove paralysis. This formula is made on the basis of Gui Zhi Tang with the addition of Prepared Fructus Schisandrae and Atractylodes Macrocephalae.
Gui Zhi Tang is composed of Gui Zhi, Bai Shao, Ginger, Jujube, Radix et Rhizoma Glycyrrhizae, Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae and Radix et Rhizoma Pseudostellariae.
The efficacy of Gui Zhi Tang is to detoxify the muscles and release the Qi (using sweating and other methods to make the evil Qi trapped in the muscle surface to go out), and to harmonize the Ying and Wei (to make the internal and external Qi of the body smooth and in their respective roles).
Cangzhu, pungent, bitter and warm in nature, enters the spleen, stomach and liver meridians, and has the effects of strengthening the spleen and drying dampness (strengthening the spleen and dispelling dampness), dispelling wind and dispersing cold (dispelling wind and dispersing cold).
Prepared with the flavor of pungent, sweet and hot in nature, it belongs to the heart, spleen and kidney meridians, and has the functions of restoring yang to save the body (by warming yang qi to save fainting and unconsciousness, etc.), tonifying fire to help yang (by replenishing the body’s yang qi), and dispersing cold and relieving pain (by dispersing the body’s cold evils to alleviate pain).
