Effects of Acorus calamus

The correct drug name of Acorus calamus is Acorus ninety-segmented, which has the effect of opening the orifices, removing phlegm, awakening the spleen and tranquilizing the mind, and is used for treating heat illnesses, epilepsy, tinnitus and deafness, chest tightness and abdominal distension, and loss of appetite. Calamus is the dried rhizome of Altair’s silver lotus in the buttercup family.
