Second, can cerebral palsy be prevented No matter what country you live in cannot be completely prevented. Regular health checkups for pregnant women can reduce the incidence. Can it be transmitted? The affected child cannot transmit it to others. Can it happen again? It is rare to have two children with cerebral palsy in one family. Is there medication available? There is no effective medication in general, except for children with seizures. Is surgery effective? Surgery cannot cure cerebral palsy. However, surgery can be done to lengthen the contracted muscles (shortened muscles) or to weaken the pulling force of the spastic muscles to prevent contractures from occurring. Generally speaking, when a muscle contracture causes a deformity that affects walking, orthopedic surgery should be performed promptly, followed by rehabilitation training. The best way to help infants and children with cerebral palsy is to encourage them to do active exercises to stretch the tense muscles in the correct position to prevent contractures from occurring.
