Growth of congenital heart disease interventions in China

In 1966, Rashkind pioneered the use of atrial septal stoma with a balloon catheter to treat TGA, and in 1974, King began experimenting with devices to seal atrial septal defects; in 1982, Kan first reported percutaneous pulmonary valvuloplasty, making balloon In 1982, Kan first reported percutaneous pulmonary valvuloplasty, making balloon valvuloplasty the treatment of choice for patients with simple pulmonary stenosis; however, the real stage and magnificent performance of interventional treatment for precardiac disease began in 1997, when the Amplatze (AGA, USA) arterial catheterization and atrial septal occlusion device was approved by FDA for clinical use. In 1997, I graduated from university and was assigned to Beijing Fu Wai Cardiovascular Hospital, where I was engaged in the diagnosis and interventional treatment of precardiac disease. I have personally experienced the development of interventional treatment of precardiac disease in China from the introduction of devices (including devices to foreign experts to help with surgery) to the successful development of domestic devices, which significantly reduced the cost of treatment, especially the development of symmetric membrane septal defect blocker in 2001 and its continuous improvement, so that the scope of indications In particular, the symmetrical membrane ventricular septal defect blocker was developed and improved in 2001, which further expanded the scope of indications, improved the success rate, and reduced the complication rate of atrioventricular block and tricuspid regurgitation. Under the initiative and auspices of Prof. Hu Dayi, the Working Committee on Congenital Heart Disease of the Cardiovascular Physicians Branch of the Chinese Medical Association drafted and published the “Expert Consensus on Interventional Treatment of Common Congenital Heart Diseases”, revised and improved the treatment procedures of congenital heart disease intervention, standardized the indications and operation methods of congenital heart disease intervention, and the interventional treatment of congenital heart disease has The interventional treatment of congenital heart disease has entered a stage of steady development. The interventional treatment of congenital heart disease in China has been recognized worldwide, and Fuwai Hospital has been accepting doctors from the United States, India, Hong Kong and other places to study in recent years.
