What is the dosage of paliperidone extended-release tablets?

Paliperidone Extended-Release Tablets are available in the following dosages: the recommended dose for adults is 6 mg once a day in the morning; the recommended dose for adolescents aged 12 to 17 years is 3 mg once a day in the morning.
The drug is an antagonist of α1 and α2 adrenergic receptors as well as H1 histamine receptors, and it has the combined effect of antagonizing central dopamine 2 receptors and 5-hydroxytryptamine 2 receptors. Clinically the drug is used in the treatment of schizophrenia.
Adverse effects such as headache, drowsiness, nausea, constipation, vomiting, fatigue, and back pain have been observed with the drug.
It is contraindicated in patients who are allergic to any of the components in this product.
If signs and symptoms of delayed dyskinesia occur in patients treated with this product, the drug should be discontinued promptly; patients with confirmed diabetes mellitus should be monitored regularly during treatment to prevent deterioration of blood glucose control.
